We observed that the conventions which tend to regularly occur in 'horror' and 'comedy' genres are; someone walking down a creepy wooden staircase, spooky music and an unwanted locations to be in where something unusaual would take place. Additionally we added a few sound effects to give it a jumpy and scared feel.
What were you pleased with? What would you have done differently?
The things that I was very please with was the opening section. Everthing fitted very smoothly together and did not cause any problems. Also the sound that was captured is not of bad quality however there are some cuts where background noise can be heard. Futhermore, i think we should have added flickering lights, whcih would be another convention which would go along with the genre.
What mistakes did you make? What would have you done differently?
The main mistakes we made was not being able to keep a group of people away who then caused the unwanted background noise. Because of that noise the video doesn't get a clean finish nor does it make the video effective. Also i think we should have added a few more angles dureing that conversation that took place which would have allowed the audience to see and evaluate the expressions on their faces.
How did you manage the group dynamics, equipment and resources?
As a group we managed to get actors who were willing to act in the video whilst we would record them. For those actors, we as a group had to write up a script so they would know what is happening and what and how they should be doing their act in the shot. I being the camrewomen had to make sure that we get as many shots from different angles as possible which was a difficut task, considering the location and space we had choosen and also the actors who started to get annoyed doing the same shot over and over again just from different angles. The location we choose was a dark room underneath the school drama stage which seemed old, dark and also had pipes along the walls; which went perfectly with a spooky or horror environment. The equipment that we needed was the recording camrea and a tripod so that the shots would not be shaky.
What problems did you encounter logistically?
Problems which occured during the shooting were that many unwanted people showed up causing a lot of noise which can be heard in the video due to them. Because of their interfearance, during our shooting hours, the actors got distracted which made everything take longer than it should have. Another problem that took place was that having actors we had to find some perfect hours in which everyone would be free to act. Futhermore due to the limited space, some shots were difficult to capture which would then consume time in order to figure out a way in that we would be able to get it.
